Professional Miner Spotlight:
Sgt. Chad Davis

Sgt. Chad Davis of the Iowa National Guard has been serving his country in Iraq, and is also a Professional Miner. During a recent stateside leave, Sgt. Davis was awarded the Platinum level Professional Miner certificate.

Sgt. Davis has been working for ILC Resources Plant No. 1 in Alden Iowa since 1998. After starting as a production worker, he eventually became a forklift operator, scale house man, and assistant foreman. His commitment to safety at work was reinforced by his extensive first aid and safety training through the the National Guard.

Chad asked to be deployed overseas to help his country shortly after the September 11th terrorist attacks, and he was stationed in Iraq beginning in November 2003. In October, he briefly rejoined his friends at ILC Resources, many of whom were also receiving Professional Miner recognition. Sgt. Davis then returned to Iraq to complete his tour of duty.
